Heavy Duty Trailer Technician | $26-$30/hr DOE
Location: Fife, WA
Our client’s company specializes in providing truck and trailer services, including A/C and heating, diesel service, fleets, preventative maintenance, and transmission repairs. They are currently seeking experienced Heavy Duty Trailer Technicians to join their team.
As a Heavy Duty Trailer Technician, you will be responsible for conducting preventive maintenance services, diagnosing and repairing air brake systems, ABS, suspension, and electrical systems, as well as performing welding and fabrication on various materials. Additionally, you will be involved in body repairs on semi-trailers and ensuring the overall functionality of roll-up and swing doors.
Trailer Technician Job Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality preventive maintenance services and DOT inspections on semi-trailers and dolly’s
- Diagnose and repair air brake systems, ABS, suspension, and electrical systems
- Perform welding and fabrication on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
- Complete body repairs on semi-trailers, including side panels, roofs, headers, and frame rails
- Repair or replace roll-up doors and swing doors
- Assist other mechanics as necessary
- Demonstrate effective communication skills for both independent work and collaboration within a team
- Operate company vehicles in accordance with policies and safe driving practices
- Perform occasional facility maintenance
- Accurately document repairs and maintenance
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders
- Demonstrate professional conduct and adhere to safety guidelines, including those set by OSHA
- Operate a forklift as required to facilitate repairs and move heavy parts
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a heavy-duty trailer mechanic
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record (contingent upon job location)
- Ability to pass a criminal history background check
- Physical capability to lift and install various parts required for the job, including heavier components like brake drums, tires, flywheels, clutches, starters, and suspension spring packs
