Controls Design Engineer
Compensation: $37-$49+/hr DOE
Location: Renton, WA
Our client, a leader in the Building Automation Systems and Controls industry, is seeking a skilled Controls Design Engineer. This individual will apply their technical knowledge and experience to design control systems for various projects. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the production of closeout documents at the end of each project and will need to interact closely with Project Managers or assigned Project Engineers. This role requires proficiency in computer-operated systems and engineering design tools (e.g. AutoCAD, VISIO, EDS).
Controls Design Engineer Job Responsibilities
- Researching and selecting control system peripherals.
- Producing controls systems design drawings, sequence of operations, and submittals for lower to mid-level control systems.
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings and project specifications to ensure the control systems design complies.
- Collaborating with other members of the project team to identify additional options for the customer (e.g. Energy Efficiency, Equipment Interface, Value Engineering).
- Modifying controls designs to reflect field changes made during the implementation process.
- Generating Operation & Maintenance manuals at the close of a project.
- Managing time and cost budgets for assigned project tasks.
- Communicating effectively with all other project team members concerning problems, obstacles, issues, and information needs from the field.
- Recommending design modifications to resolve potential field issues.
- Submitting daily and/or weekly summary of work reports to the project team leadership.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in a technical field or 2-5 years of related work experience in building automation systems. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and thorough understanding of controls systems.
- Knowledge of the ALC product line and requirements as well as other vendor products, systems, and protocols.
- Ability to read construction blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, File Structure, AutoCAD, VISIO. Basic TCP/IP network structure and web navigation are desired.
- Highly organized and able to work in a high paced environment with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to operate independently and autonomously and take ownership of all assigned tasks.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Ability to execute work to ensure high customer satisfaction and the highest quality deliverable.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
