Sales Manager

Compensation: $90K-$120K DOE

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Sales Manager to lead and oversee the sales operations of their branch. This is a critical leadership role responsible for coaching a high-performing sales team, developing targeted sales strategies, and driving overall branch performance. Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and develop Account Managers on selling tactics, product knowledge, and margin skills.
  • Direct and supervise Account Managers in daily sales procedures.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in managing the division and overall operations.
  • Resolve daily challenges arising in sales, including sales orders, shipping, and receiving.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing programs; may serve as Product Manager as needed.
  • Collaborate with vendors on sales promotions and product initiatives.
  • Travel with Account Managers to build and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Monitor and personally manage key accounts and multi-location accounts as necessary.
  • Analyze all sales procedures and reports, managing the department to Turn and Earn and ROA performance levels.
  • Support Outside Sales in developing detailed market plans to increase and maintain market share.
  • Monitor product and account satisfaction and accuracy.
  • Review and approve all sales expenses for Account Managers.
  • Prepare yearly budgets and sales plans for the inside sales department, including recommended capital expenditures, personnel requirements, and wage administration.
  • Establish individual sales quotas and track performance against expectations.
  • Provide competitive assessments, product or sales training, and pricing and contracting assistance to the sales team.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changes throughout the course of employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in the wholesale lumber industry.
  • Strong leadership qualities with proven experience supervising and managing sales personnel.
  • Ability to understand, quickly react, and motivate others to adapt and achieve results.
  • Demonstrated ability to make quick decisions and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency toward goal achievement and sales results.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented leadership style with the ability to proactively establish relationships with individuals inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to model company values and provide innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Ability to sit, walk, or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and perform manual tasks for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds (5% or less of the workday).
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (5% or less of the workday).
