Our client is seeking an experienced Product Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of assigned lumber products — from purchasing and inventory management to pricing, vendor relationships, and sales support. This is a critical role for someone with a strong background in the lumber industry who can drive product strategy, optimize inventory, and support continued business growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned product lines from purchasing through sales and ongoing performance.
- Develop pricing strategies and maintain product pricing for the sales team.
- Support daily sales efforts and help develop special sales programs and promotions.
- Introduce new products and coordinate product training for employees and customers.
- Purchase inventory and maintain optimal stock levels based on demand, inventory turns, aging goals, and company budgets.
- Monitor inventory performance, budgeting, and return on assets (ROA).
- Lead and participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counting activities.
- Build relationships with existing vendors while identifying and onboarding new supplier partners.
- Research market trends and customer needs to identify new product opportunities.
- Collaborate across departments to improve product performance and profitability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience preferred.
- Experience in the lumber industry, including vendor and supplier relationships.
- Strong understanding of purchasing, inventory management, pricing, and product profitability.
- Experience managing inventory metrics such as turns, aging, and forecasting.
- Ability to analyze business performance and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both vendors and internal teams.
- Highly organized with excellent follow-up and attention to detail.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
