[Pump Solutions] Design Engineer | $60K-$90K DOE

Location: Clackamas, OR

Our client specializes in designing and manufacturing centrifugal pumps for a variety of sectors, including Agriculture, Industrial, and Mining. They are currently seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to lead projects aimed at developing new product lines that align with the company’s strategic growth objectives.

This role is critical in coordinating and executing the mechanical design and analysis of centrifugal pumps and their integrated drivers, ensuring these new products meet industry standards and certification requirements. The Design Engineer will also play a vital role in sourcing, evaluating suppliers, managing product testing, and providing comprehensive training and support.

Pump Design Engineer Job Responsibilities


  • Lead project management efforts to develop new product lines, including developing project proposals, conducting market research, and defining project scopes.
  • Coordinate and perform mechanical design and analysis of centrifugal pumps and integrated pump drivers, adhering to relevant standards and certification requirements.
  • Oversee sourcing efforts, evaluate suppliers, and manage the product testing process.
  • Utilize data analysis skills and familiarity with equipment sensors and control systems to enhance product development.
  • Provide training to dealers, end-users, and sales staff on product application and maintenance.
  • Offer technical support across departments and investigate field problems and warranty requests, which may occasionally require travel.

Qualifications


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management within a New Product Development environment, specifically in releasing products.
  • Detailed knowledge of the mechanical function, design, and assembly of electric motors. Experience with submersible electrically driven centrifugal pumps is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong background in integrated Electrical/Mechanical assembly design.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks is required; experience with other 3D modeling software is also valuable.
  • Demonstrated mechanical inclination with experience using hand and power tools, and ability to work with large and complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with the specification, design, and operation of electrical motors and control systems, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor starters, PLC logic, PID control, and remote condition monitoring.
