Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will play a critical part in planning, coordinating, and managing commercial HVAC retrofit projects while supporting larger HVAC and building-controls initiatives. This position is essential to ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage smaller commercial HVAC retrofit projects.
• Support Project Managers with larger HVAC and building-controls projects.
• Develop, update, and maintain project schedules.
• Prepare and manage design submittals, RFIs, change orders, and scopes of work.
• Coordinate designers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Ensure required design and installation information is accurate and delivered on time.
• Review subcontractor and engineering performance and provide feedback to the Project Manager.
• Partner with the Quality Control Manager to prepare, review, and update required documentation.
• Review and approve design submittals for compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate the purchase of materials, equipment, supplies, and subcontracted services.
• Maintain appropriate inventory control for project materials and consumable supplies.
• Communicate with clients and internal teams to keep projects organized and on schedule.
• Anticipate project needs and resolve problems with an appropriate sense of urgency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business management, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in commercial HVAC or building controls.
• Experience supporting or managing HVAC retrofit or mechanical-construction projects.
• Knowledge of submittals, RFIs, change orders, proposals, scopes of work, and project scheduling.
• Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors, engineers, vendors, and field personnel.
• Understanding of HVAC preventive-maintenance schedules and operations.
• Ability to review mechanical plans, specifications, and equipment submittals.
• Strong verbal, written, listening, and telephone communication skills.
• Professional and customer-focused demeanor.
• Ability to manage a high volume of work with accuracy.
• Strong organization, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to adjust to changing priorities and work independently.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to satisfy company motor-vehicle requirements.
