Compensation: $60K-$65K DOE
Our client is a well-established, family-owned independent insurance agency with a long history of providing exceptional service in commercial, personal, and group benefit insurance lines. Known for fostering trust and delivering tailored solutions, they are seeking a Benefits Account Manager to join their team. This role involves building and maintaining strong client relationships, managing a diverse book of business, and delivering excellent support in the area of Health and Life insurance products.
Group Benefits Insurance Small Account Manager Job Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients to meet their Health and Life insurance needs.
- Partner with brokers to manage an assigned book of business, including developing proposals and presentations.
- Retain existing clients while supporting onboarding efforts for new accounts.
- Provide exceptional client service, ensuring all solutions align with client goals.
- Recommend products and services to bridge gaps in coverage.
- Oversee renewals, including re-marketing policies and shopping carriers as needed.
- Stay informed on legislative and compliance issues such as ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and others.
- Review contracts, amendments, and SPDs to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies with carriers.
- Serve as a mentor for Associate Account Managers.
- Conduct client presentations, including open enrollments, benefit fairs, and renewal meetings.
- Resolve claims, billing, eligibility, and plan administration issues.
- Maintain client information to ensure compliance and meet service standards.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience managing Small Group Accounts (under 50 employees).
- Active Health and Life licenses in Oregon.
- Experience with medical, dental, disability, group life, and voluntary benefits.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a varied workload under pressure.
- Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with tools such as Applied Epic, Wired Enroll, EASE, and Employee Navigator (preferred but not required).
- Occasional travel required for client meetings in the local area.
