Shop Foreman

Compensation: $45-$72/hr DOE

Location:   Seattle, WA

As their longtime Shop Foreman prepares for retirement, our client is searching for a skilled and experienced leader to oversee shop operations. This role goes beyond traditional heavy equipment mechanics—it requires expertise in custom heavy gearing for deck-mounted winches, hoists, and lifting equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydraulic systems, gear ratios, fabrication, and precision assembly.

You will be responsible for interacting with customers to understand project scope, overseeing fabrication and assembly, managing parts ordering, and ensuring high-quality workmanship. If the right candidate is found, our client is prepared to make an early transition.

Shop Foreman Job Responsibilities


  • Oversee the fabrication and assembly of custom heavy lifting equipment
  • Work with hydraulic pumps, lines, gear ratios, and specialized lifting mechanics
  • Ensure precise calculations for custom gearing and power transmission systems
  • Interact with customers to assess project needs and technical requirements
  • Order and manage parts and materials for projects
  • Supervise and support the shop team, ensuring safety and efficiency
  • Maintain high standards of quality control and adherence to specifications

Qualifications


  • Proven experience in engineering, fabricating, and assembling heavy lifting equipment
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, gearing, hydraulics, and controls
  • Ability to perform technical calculations for custom gearing and load specifications
  • Experience managing shop operations, including workflow, parts sourcing, and quality control
  • Strong leadership and customer service skills
  • Prior experience supervising and mentoring a technical team
