Our client’s company specializes in material handling, parts, and services of equipment. They are currently seeking a CDL Truck Driver to join their team.
As a CDL Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting equipment and materials to and from specified destinations, ensuring the load is secure during transit, and providing customer training on equipment usage.
CDL Driver Job Responsibilities
- Drive truck to transport equipment and materials to and from specified destinations.
- Position blocks, chains, ties, and other devices to secure the load during transit.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Verify load against shipping papers.
- Provide customer training on equipment usage.
- Prepare receipts for materials picked up to assure proper logs/paperwork comply with DOT regulations.
- Maintain logs and records according to DOT regulations as required.
- Obtain all in and out-of-state permits.
- Maintain and check the truck’s equipment and supplies to assure roadworthiness.
- Notify supervisor of currently needed or anticipated repairs.
- Perform minor emergency roadside repairs.
- Perform various equipment maintenance and service duties when not driving.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of previous experience in hauling heavy equipment product lines.
- Familiarity with lowboy, flatbed, step/drop-deck trailers, and other equipment hauling methods.
- HS Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Effective communication skills with customers, co-workers, and management.
- Current Commercial Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Secondary school graduate with one to three years of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic experience. May include equivalent college or vocational school education.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to understand necessary service and training manuals, including the ability to interpret schematics and effectively use electrical diagnostic instruments.
- Keep pace with industry innovations to make sound recommendations to customers.
- Ability to safely operate power tools, lifts, hoists, hydraulic jacks, and overhead cranes.
- Ability to perform strenuous and heavy work, exerting force up to 100 pounds on occasion and frequently handle loads up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the physical stamina to perform continuously with full body motion for climbing, reaching, pushing, lifting, etc.
- Must provide own tools for service work.
