Benefits Account Executive

Compensation: $100K-$125K DOE
Location:   Seattle, WA

Our client is a well-established independent insurance agency offering a comprehensive suite of employee benefits solutions, including fully insured, level-funded, and self-insured programs. They are committed to the well-being of their employees, offering an exceptional benefits package that includes employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with financial perks such as an ESPP, 401(k), student loan assistance, and tuition reimbursement. Additional offerings include free mental health and enhanced advocacy services, paid time off, holidays, and preferred partner discounts.

Our client is seeking an experienced Benefits Account Executive to join their team in downtown Seattle. This is a strategic, relationship-focused role centered entirely on client retention. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional who can independently manage a robust book of business, build lasting client relationships, and deliver exceptional service — all without significant direction. This is not a new business development role. The position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office presence every Wednesday and Thursday, with three remote workdays per week. This is not a fully remote role and will not become one.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a book of group/employee benefits accounts, with a primary focus on client retention.
  • Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with clients to ensure long-term satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Prepare new business and renewal bid specifications, proposals, and related reports.
  • Market and re-market rates, as well as perform carrier negotiations on behalf of clients.
  • Liaise with clients and underwriters to gather necessary information and resolve questions or issues.
  • Coordinate and/or lead open enrollment meetings as needed.
  • Prepare benefit summaries and experience reports for experience-rated and self-insured clients.
  • Manage back-end account administration tasks in support of a seamless client experience.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of group/employee benefits experience, specifically within an independent agency.
  • 5+ years of experience independently managing fully insured, level-funded, and self-insured accounts.
  • 3+ years of experience in an Account Executive capacity.
  • 5+ years of back-end, traditional account management experience.
  • 5+ years of direct client-facing experience, managing a book of business independently with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to be strategic and relationship-driven, with a focus solely on retention rather than new business development.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule: in-office every Wednesday and Thursday at the downtown Seattle location, with three remote workdays per week.
