[Seafood] Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator | $90K-$140K DOE
Location: Tacoma, WA
Our client, a leader in the Pacific Northwest wild caught seafood industry, is on the lookout for an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all environmental compliance, health, and safety programs across multiple processing sites.
The EHS Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Plant Manager, Production Management, Maintenance, QA & Sanitation teams to develop and maintain comprehensive practices. This position is crucial in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as OSHA, FSMA, HACCP, SQF, and BRC, and in promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the company.
EHS Coordinator Job Responsibilities
- Oversee environmental compliance and ensure the company meets all regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain EHS programs, inspection forms, training curricula, and policies.
- Manage and direct all aspects of environmental, health, safety, and sustainable development programs.
- Ensure timely submittal of all environmental reports and compliance with corporate guidelines.
- Promote an accident-free work environment through effective safety training and monitoring programs.
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes and initiatives, advising management on pertinent issues.
- Create proactive solutions for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct continuous audits of the facilities to identify deficiencies and implement improvements.
- Serve as an in-house resource on technical EHS issues.
- Implement initiatives to reduce and prevent work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Act as SQF practitioner for safe quality foods initiatives.
- Manage wastewater and stormwater programs, maintaining EHS records accurately.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety roles.
- College degree preferred, with a focus on environmental or safety management.
- Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn environmental and safety regulations applicable to food production in Washington State, including air, wastewater, stormwater, solid and hazardous waste regulations, industrial safety, and hygiene.
