Manual Machinist | $44-$48/hr+OT
Location: Seattle, WA
Our client is a distinguished provider of industrial machining services, with a particular expertise in ship repair and fabrication. They are recognized for their commitment to quality, precision, and customer satisfaction. At this time, they are looking to enhance their team by hiring a skilled Manual Machinist.
This role involves operating both horizontal and vertical mill and lathe machines, maintaining extremely tight tolerances, and interpreting blueprints with precision. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the company’s reputation for excellence by ensuring the high-quality and accuracy of machined parts.
Manual Machinist Job Responsibilities
- Operate horizontal and vertical milling and lathe machines with expertise.
- Maintain tolerances within plus/minus one thousandth of an inch to ensure high-quality work.
- Perform fitting and layout tasks as required for each project.
- Read, interpret, and understand blueprints accurately to produce components as designed.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clarity and precision in work.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating a strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience as a machinist, with a preference for those experienced in ship repair and fabrication.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a proven ability to work with precision.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to ensure effective collaboration with the team.
- Good math skills, critical for calculating dimensions and tolerances accurately.
- Basic computer skills for accessing project specifications and documentation.
- Ability to interpret and understand complex blueprints and schematics.
