Our client, a manufacturer specializing in severe duty pumps used in slurry applications, is looking for an Applications Engineer. This role is ideal for someone who combines engineering knowledge with customer service skills, attention to detail, and a solution-finding perspective.
As the first point of contact for established customers, you will be responsible for product/system adaptation or changes, addressing new product inquiries, and resolving service issues. This position is a balanced mix of engineering and sales, offering a dynamic work environment where you can apply your technical expertise to real-world problems.
Industrial Applications Engineer Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking product adaptations, new products, or service solutions.
- Review product specifications, including drawings, to ensure accuracy and suitability for client needs.
- Manage stock needs, modifications, and oversee product casting from overseas foundries to guarantee readiness and compliance with specifications.
- Utilize schematics, CAD drawings, and 3-D models of pumps to provide accurate and effective solutions.
- Engage in frequent communication with suppliers and customers, balancing technical details with customer service.
- Perform calculations and analyze data related to specific gravity, flow, and other relevant metrics to ensure the right solution is provided.
- Handle a mix of routine solutions and more complex challenges that will test your knowledge and investigative skills.
Qualifications
- Engineering or technical degree, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Ability to work independently towards targeted results, demonstrating a solution-oriented and technically curious mindset.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of people and cultures.
- Any knowledge or exposure to slurry and similar processing is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools, including CAD and 3-D modeling.
- Comfort with a role that is evenly split between engineering and sales components.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Vancouver for training purposes, with potential flexibility for experienced candidates in Seattle.
