Our client is a well-established organization operating within the construction and building controls industry, delivering specialized engineering and project management solutions to a broad range of customers. They are known for their commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and financial accountability. They are currently seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join their team. This pivotal role is responsible for acquiring new projects, leading them from inception to successful completion, and ensuring both customer satisfaction and strong financial outcomes. The Construction Project Manager serves as the central point of coordination between clients, subcontractors, engineering teams, and field personnel, making this position critical to the organization’s continued growth and success.
Responsibilities
- Lead client meetings and develop contracts to finalize sales; maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and industry contacts.
- Develop and update project implementation plans, coordinating resources to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects or tasks.
- Complete concept engineering, create full project estimates, draft written proposal responses, and finalize contracts.
- Ensure profitable completion of each project; effectively manage cash flow, costs, and billing in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining profitability goals.
- Communicate financial status clearly to management and provide input on cost allocation to financial reporting systems.
- Manage the engineering job process, including coordination with the controls engineering team; configure, design, and engineer systems in a cost-effective manner while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.
- Customize standard software from the controls team or existing standards library as needed.
- Oversee project construction for compliance with specifications, codes, materials, installation techniques, and safety standards.
- Manage the material procurement process, including selecting and ordering appropriate materials, and monitoring material usage, cost, and inventory.
- Obtain lead time discounts when possible.
- Plan and monitor commissioning and system checkout before release to the owner/operator; ensure job completion documentation is thorough and complete.
- Assign technical resources appropriately for problem resolution and proactively evaluate potential project issues to limit negative outcomes.
- Review customer systems during installation to identify areas of improvement, resulting in value-added change orders; pursue change orders for equitable contract adjustments.
- Coordinate on-site visits for service personnel and ensure a smooth transition to service upon project completion.
- Develop and maintain viable relationships with customers, prime contractors, subcontractors, and trade personnel; schedule and attend progress meetings as directed.
- Provide detailed instructions to and interface with installers and subcontractors, ensuring clear understanding of project expectations.
- Adhere to and promote safety standards with a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 10+ years of relevant work experience, OR an Associate’s degree with equivalent related work and engineering experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in the construction industry.
- Ability to operate independently and autonomously, with the discretionary judgment to consult with others in the organization when appropriate.
- Familiarity with construction trade labor practices.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders at varying technical levels.
- Must possess, or be able to acquire through self-directed training, a user-level and basic ALC programming and operational experience.
- Demonstrated high sense of integrity in professional conduct.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to develop new business.
- Strong interpersonal and project management abilities, with excellent organizational skills to successfully manage a high volume of concurrent issues.
