Our client is a well-established leader in the Traffic Control and Road Safety industry, delivering critical services that keep roads and workers safe. As a Fleet & Traffic Equipment Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining, repairing, and deploying the equipment that keeps operations running safely and efficiently. This position is essential to the organization’s ability to deliver reliable traffic control solutions across multiple locations.
Responsibilities
- Perform minor repairs on company trucks, including work trucks (up to 2-ton) and Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMAs) — International, Freightliner, and Mack.
- Supply branches with operational support, repairs, and technical assistance.
- Provide technical phone support, troubleshooting, and training on all traffic control products.
- Ensure all paperwork meets corporate standards and is completed in a timely manner.
- Move trailers using a forklift and/or truck as necessary.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair traffic control equipment, including message boards, light towers, and safety devices.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on fleet vehicles and trailers.
- Prepare equipment for deployment and ensure it meets all applicable safety standards.
- Deliver equipment to and from job sites as needed.
- Coordinate with operations and yard teams to keep projects on schedule and moving forward.
Qualifications
- A post-secondary diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or hands-on maintenance experience in automotive, equipment, fleet, or a similar field is required.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and fit-for-duty test. Note: As this is a safety-sensitive position, a zero-tolerance policy for marijuana use (medical or recreational) is in effect. The fit test includes the ability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs to access equipment, and perform related physical tasks.
- Organized, reliable, and safety-focused work ethic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
- Availability for occasional after-hours work to complete on-site repairs for clients as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to hitch, tow, and back trailers.
- Ability and willingness to travel to Oregon and eastern Washington when necessary.
