Our client, a leader in the construction rental equipment industry, is seeking a reliable and skilled Class A CDL Driver to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of heavy machinery and equipment to various assigned locations.
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that equipment is delivered securely and in excellent condition, while also providing customers with instructions on the safe operation of the machinery.
As a Class A CDL Driver, you will handle a range of duties, including the proper loading and unloading of equipment, conducting pre-delivery and pre-pickup inspections, performing minor repairs and maintenance, and maintaining detailed records of your deliveries. The role involves local driving, allowing you to be home at the end of each day.
CDL A Driver Job Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver heavy machinery and equipment to assigned locations.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of equipment, with a focus on stability and securement according to company and DOT guidelines.
- Instruct customers on the safe operation of rental equipment.
- Conduct pre-delivery and pre-pickup inspections to ensure equipment is in excellent condition.
- Record deliveries, including mileage logs and fuel receipts, and complete appropriate paperwork on time.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment such as concrete tools, forklifts, boom lifts, generators, etc.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the truck and trailer.
- Complete daily vehicle inspection reports to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class A CDL required.
- 1+ years of experience in the forklift or related industry preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in commercial driving preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, especially regarding safety and securement of loads.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to instruct customers on equipment use.
- A commitment to maintaining a clean and professional vehicle appearance.
