DDC Programmer / Technician | $79K-$88K DOE

Location: Vancouver, WA

Our client, a leading provider of design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance services for commercial HVAC and automation control systems, is seeking an experienced DDC Programmer/Technician to join their team in Vancouver, WA. They work with commercial owner direct and new construction projects, servicing a wide range of clients such as commercial buildings, corporate buildings, K-12 schools, universities, healthcare facilities, government, and municipalities.

As a DDC Programmer/Technician, you will use your technical knowledge and experience to develop custom graphics and program databases for building management systems. You will also be responsible for the installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of assigned projects. This role requires excellent computer skills, an understanding of computer-operated systems, and the ability to document field conditions and commissioning processes. You will closely collaborate with the project manager and project engineering staff to ensure the timely and successful completion of each project.

DDC Programmer Job Responsibilities

  • Develop control systems databases and programs as a lead systems software engineer
  • Support the execution of initial systems point-to-point commissioning activities
  • Troubleshoot local and wide area network issues as they arise
  • Utilize computer hardware and software to support pre-functional testing of system software
  • Participate in and support final systems functional testing for standard, 3rd party, LEED, and Title 24 requirements
  • Develop and work with 3rd party integrations of other vendor products, systems, and protocols
  • Coordinate field project activities and attend meetings as required
  • Lead end-user/customer system training on assigned projects
  • Assist in the design of sequence of operations development against design build and/or contract requirements
  • Manage field time and budgets for assigned projects
  • Provide leadership for field teams when executing mid-sized projects
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding project issues, obstacles, and information needs
  • Attend and complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training classes
  • Coach, mentor, and develop junior level systems software engineers


  • Associate’s degree in a technical field or 2-5 years of related work experience in building automation systems; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical school training
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, file structure, and basic TCP/IP network structure and web navigation
  • Highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of assigned tasks
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • Commitment to high customer satisfaction and quality deliverables
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Niagara / Tridium / Automated Controls Software
