[Building Materials] Purchasing Manager
Compensation: $80K-$100K DOE

Our client, a leading provider of lumber and building material products, is seeking an experienced and proactive Purchasing Manager to join their operations team. This key role involves managing purchasing efforts to improve gross profit margins, cultivating relationships with suppliers, and conducting regular site visits. Purchasing Manager Job Responsibilities
- Improve the gross profit margins through strategic lumber purchasing efforts.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with suppliers, aiming to be the “customer of choice” in all operating regions.
- Conduct quarterly site visits to suppliers within the operating regions.
- Purchase lumber products from mills and direct suppliers, including Orting and Marysville locations.
- Provide regular progress updates to the CEO and sales staff, detailing inventory status, recent purchasing activity, and market alternatives.
- Manage inventory, verify record accuracy, and supervise periodic inventory counts.
- Prepare weekly market report comparing product pricing.
- Ensure efficient communication with dispatch, logistics, sales, and account management teams to guarantee timely and accurate delivery of products ordered.
- Stay updated on market activities and pricing trends, and perform market research to inform buying activities.
Qualifications
- Proven success serving multi-family project owners in the lumber industry.
- Established relationships with Mills and suppliers within a 250-mile radius of Seattle, Washington.
- Strong data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple urgent requests.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Growth mindset and “grinder” orientation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Teams, and web-based software.
- Experience with Wood Pro ERP software and Power BI is a plus.
