Commercial Account Manager
Compensation: $65K-$75K DOE
Location: Tacoma, WA
Our client is one of the largest private, family-owned insurance agencies in Washington State, specializing in commercial, personal lines, and group benefits. The company has a strong reputation for client-focused service and cutting-edge technology. They are currently in major growth mode, expanding their business throughout Western Washington and Oregon. Their team operates in a mix of in-office, remote, and hybrid roles, with opportunities for remote work based on performance.
They are seeking an experienced and highly autonomous Commercial Account Manager to manage the full renewal process from A to Z, including policy reviews, claims auditing, client consultations, policy changes, re-marketing to carriers, and binding policies. The ideal candidate will be energetic, client-facing, and capable of handling a high volume of small-market commercial accounts across industries such as contracting, transportation, logging/timber, real estate, and hospitality.
Commercial Account Manager Job Responsibilities
- Manage the full renewal process, from pre-renewal meetings to policy audits, coverage reviews, and policy binding.
- Work with producers and house accounts, providing expert consultation and client-facing account management.
- Process certificates, endorsements, and policy changes while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Re-market policies to carriers as needed, leveraging experience with online rating platforms.
- Utilize EPIC and Indio for agency management and workflow efficiency.
- Maintain a high-volume book of small-market commercial accounts (100+ accounts), handling highly transactional, multi-policy clients.
- Contribute to agency goals, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses (up to 5% of base salary).
Qualifications
- 5+ years of independent agency experience managing small-market commercial accounts without supervision.
- Must come from an independent agency – no captive agents (e.g., Farmers, Allstate, State Farm) or direct writers (e.g., Sentry, Federated).
- Experience with EPIC (agency management system) is required.
- Licensed in WA Property & Casualty, with professional designations preferred.
- Strong client-facing skills, with energy and charisma in a high-touch role.
- No job hoppers – candidates should have no more than 3 jobs in the past 10 years.
- Must live close to one of the agency’s offices, with potential for remote work only for highly experienced candidates who require no training.
