Our client, a specialized provider of vehicle repair services for fire trucks, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Shop Mechanic to join their team. As a Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing a variety of repairs and maintenance tasks on fire trucks, including diagnosing issues, conducting inspections, and completing necessary repairs. To ensure you are fully equipped to handle the specific demands of this role, you will be required to complete a fire truck training course.
Diesel Shop Mechanic Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fire trucks, including engine work, brake systems, electrical systems, and other components.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, providing accurate assessments and efficient solutions.
- Conduct thorough inspections to ensure fire trucks are in optimal working condition and meet all safety standards.
- Complete necessary repairs in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing downtime for the vehicles.
- Follow all company and industry safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including parts used and time spent on each task.
- Participate in and complete a fire truck training course to gain specialized knowledge for this role.
Qualifications
- Current experience as a diesel or heavy equipment technician.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of diesel engines, heavy equipment, and vehicle repair.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
- Commitment to safety and following industry protocols.
- Willingness to complete specialized training for fire truck maintenance and repair.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
